Work package 6
DEVELOPMENTData collection, analysis and research
Related assumptions and risks
A: Availability of research staff
R: Lack of adequate expertise in data collection, use of learning analytics, research reporting skills: research on education in China is a relatively young discipline with a small knowledge base in Chinese institutes
Data collection for dental research will be piloted; learning analytics tools evaluated and adjusted. Retrieved data will be analyzed and reported on in scientific and non-scientific journals (see WP8). The WP will draw upon expertise from QUBs Centre for Effective Education which is an applied, interdisciplinary research centre concerned with using
evidence to improve education for all.

Piloting of educational data collection and learning analytics
Parallel to the pilot of all e-modules, the data collection for dental research will be piloted; to this end, the custom queries and custom reports will be used, providing data about the intercultural aspects of the treatment plans produced by the students and of aspects of the learning process. Keeping oversight of design, construction, usage and evaluation results of the tooling for Learning Analytics and research is crucial to the project and should happen from a comprehensive approach.
Outputs are a flawless functioning of the data collection tools (questionnaire and survey modules in the eCampus system, custom queries, custom reports), and timely reporting to the steering committee and review.
Work package outcome 6.2Research based on retrieved data
Based on retrieved analyzed data on 1. intercultural aspects of the produced treatment plans produced by the students and 2. aspects of the learning process, scientific articles and journal items will be prepared and published in local, regional, national and international journals (see WP8) by the research committee, comprising of at least 2 students and 2 teachers of every partner and guided by QUB/ Centre for Effective Education.
